Easy Sticky BBQ Ribs Recipe (Sweet & Smoky)
These sticky BBQ ribs are sweet, smoky, and fall-off-the-bone tender. Perfect for backyard grilling or competition-style BBQ using Motley Que Sticky Fixx.
What You Need
- 1 rack St. Louis ribs
- Motley Que All Purpose Rub
- Motley Que Sticky Fixx BBQ Sauce
- Yellow mustard
- Butter + brown sugar
Step-by-Step (No Fail Version)
1. Prep (Do NOT skip this move)
- Remove membrane (paper towel grip, rip it clean)
- Slice between bones halfway down → accordion cut
- Light mustard coat
- Season heavy with All Purpose Rub
- Push ribs back together tight
This = thick, juicy, meat-packed ribs
2. Smoke
- 300°F
- Bone side down, still compressed
- 1.5- 2 hours
Leave them alone. Build bark.
3. Wrap
- Into foil
- Add butter + brown sugar
- Wrap tight
Back on for 1.5–2 hours
4. Sauce (CRITICAL STEP)
- Warm your Sticky Fixx first (cold sauce = garbage results)
- Unwrap ribs carefully
- Light brush of warm sauce
Back on the pit ONLY 3–5 minutes max
That’s it.
Don’t Screw This Part Up
- Sauce has sugar → it burns fast
- You are setting the sauce, not cooking it
If you leave them longer = bitter, burnt, ruined ribs
5. Done
- Bend test = slight crack
- Meat pulling back from bone
- Juicy as hell
- Final Motley Que Move
Final Motley Que Move
Slice → light toss or brush with warm Sticky Fixx again before serving
That glossy, sticky, addictive finish
Why This Recipe Wins
- Accordion cut = more rub, more flavour
- Compressed cook = thicker bite
- Warm sauce + quick set = perfect glaze, zero burn
